South Africa has a differing climates as you move through the different regions. This includes areas that have not seen rain in a few years to seasonal rainfall areas. Western Cape is known for prolonged soft rain over winter while Gauteng is known for afternoon thunder storms during summer.

From September on-wards, the beach on the East coast is great. Allowing sunny days with limited rain and not extreme heat. Considering the high humidity, it is our favourite time to go there. But hey, any-time next to the ocean is a win, so really, the East and South Coast of the country is great all year round.
Western Cape during Spring and Summer is awesome. Beautiful country after they winter rains and sunny days. Be careful when going out for the day though, Cape Town and surrounds is know for having four seasons in one day. The morning might be misty and the afternoon boiling. Also, depending on the side of the mountain you are travelling, the weather changes. On the first cloudy day on the coast side of the mountain, we also head to the other side to sight see because the weather is almost guaranteed to be beautiful.
We love hiking the Drakensberg during winter because the days are beautiful 23C(73F) allowing for great walks and night time is close to zero allowing for fireplace snuggles.
