South Africa offers numerous modes of transport. Plains, trains and automobiles are all on offer.
Does South Africa have airports?
We have both local and international airports.
South Africa’s three major international airports are O.R. Tambo Intrernational Airport, Cape Town International Airport, and King Shaka international Airport.
There are a number of smaller airports around the country that may be useful to jump to your end destination quickly.
I personally like Lanseria airport. It is smaller than O.R. Tambo and closer to Gaunteng West where many of the outdoor activities would take you.
What side of the road do you drive in South Africa?
In South Africa we drive on the left hand side. The primary road rule is to keep left and pass right.
What are the speed limits on the road?
Speed limits are set at 120km/h on highways, 100km/h on secondary roads, and 60km/h in urban areas.
Please make sure you keep you eye out for the speed limits signs. The rules above are not set in stone and can change on s single stretch of road based on the surrounding facilities.
Yes we do!
Uber is a great method to travel in town when you are staying in the hotels. However, when you start travelling outside the main city, the ride options are much less and very expensive. Shuttle services or renting a vehicle may be a better option.
Personally, I rent a vehicle when we have a lot of sight seeing planned over a few days.

Can we travel by train or bus?
Yes, train travel is an option. Please make sure you research this properly. Not all trains and bus services are equal. The Gauntrain is a good example of relatively safe and trustworthy travel method in Gaunteng but the general train system is not.
Cape Town has quite an extensive bus services and Johannesburg also.
Taxis in South Africa are not the main city Yellow Cabs that the movies show in major cities. It is a shared taxi service with set routes for each taxi company.
These mini bus taxis take thousands of people to work and back daily. If you want to travel like this, find a local to help first. Each area has its own hand signals and routes. Ask the front desk to recommend someone to ask.
